Kiwi Xmas MKIII

Yikes! Its been a while on the posting. Have lots to catch up on with all that went down during the holiday season....which goes on from, um, mid-December to basically February. This time around I tried to approach the holidays with a more Kiwi attitude..just kind of wind it down. Also this year we weren't frantically searching for a new place to live while navigating the RIDICULOUS Auckland housing market.

Pohutukawa. Kiwi Xmas tree! Gorgeous red blooms in december. It pretty much lets all manner of Kiwi know that summer is here. That song "Girl in Stilettos" call this national tree out in the first verse.

Stewart family xmas tree. All Xmas protocol was followed again this year. Which means NO pressies on xmas eve!

May man has gotten big and strong. This year he got it about xmas just a little bit more. I was tasked with stocking stuffing, just like my Dad used to do for us. Li'l Beau is still a bit young to appreciate it.... but next year....

Notice the scrape on his upper-left forehead. He got that by riding his trike off the porch at day-care. Got a lot of looks from concerned do-gooders at the supermarket...."what?! He's a boy. We live on a farm....it'll happen".

Ahhhh. Wheelbarrow from auntie Robin. I had to step aside while Beau put her together.

Serious tractor action from paw-paw and nana. He needs some practice yet with the pedals...so give it about 2 weeks. This thing took a degree in "What are Germans Thinking?!" to assemble. (Designed in Germany)

Train em.

This year we were lucky enough to be invited down south to our friends Beccs (Rebecca) and Ryan's place south of Hamilton. They have an incredible lifestyle block with an enviable veggie garden. Plus a handsome young fellow named Maverick!

The boys.

Mavs was nice enough to share his ride-ons with our boy. These guys are only 6 months apart in age.

Right. High likelihood of cerfew breakers here. Awesome.

And no, ladies....we didn't forget about your needs on this one....

Hop on...

"She thinks my Tractors' Sexy!"

Beau is growing like a weed. We have started recording on our back porch door frame.
 32 1/8" and 29 pounds.
And..uh...32" is "STUD" height. Obviously.

Mommy and Daddy got to have a bit of fun as well. We went to Waiheke island for 1 night and spent 2 days doing what mommy and daddy like to do. First night both of us away from Beau....and I'm not going to lie...that was a little bit unsettling. But it was also awesome!
Not a flattering pic of Dad. On day 2 of Waiheke.

You are damn right we brought El Jeep-o!

3 beauties in this one.

Not very professional looking today...

The view from Man O' War Vineyard cellar door. Jeep right where I can keep my on it. Many a kiwi stopped and admired it. MOW is the farthest east of all the vineyards, and a must see.

Time to head home.....can't wait to get arms around our little man.

Happy Holidays!

Kiwi XMas

Merry Christmas!

We just had our second Xmas in New Zealand this time with a little baby. Leading up to the big day we spent some time at the beach soaking up the beautiful summer sunshine. The sun is really strong due to a battered ozone layer, so be sure to bring your sunscreen!
Tent for baby.
Nice "Posi" at Bethell's Beach

My man wasn't in the best of moods come Christmas time. Mostly because all 8 of his teeth decided to come on in at what seems like the same time. This led to irritable, cranky baby...

You gots to have teef! (you can just see the bottom two in this blurry pic)

Since Kim and I have been together we have never done a proper Christmas at our place. Not because we are Jewish, but we just always traveled to family's place for Christmas. Ella would not have cared anyways.
But THIS year it was time to get the spirit going. I proudly picked up a nice tree and Kim and I decorated it up....not bad for first timers.

Beau doesn't know what it means either. He DOES know how to start off Xmas at 5AM, however...
Ahhhh. Christmas morning. I've always loved it. And of course we were to follow STRICT Stewart family Christmas morning rules:

  • Rule# 1 - NO opening gifts on Christmas Eve....you have to learn to wait..."le pause"
  • Rule# 2 - We open gifts ONE at a time from youngest to oldest...oldest looking...so I went last.

Mocka truck. Thanks Pa-Pa
  • Rule# 3 - Mimosas for Mom and Dad. Go easy on the OJ....

Fortified on Mimosa at 530AM, presents unwrapped...time for a nap...whole family...

Santa brought us some sweet panoramic prints we have been meaning to get done for a while. Two of our favorites below. Bethell's Beach (the big one) and The 12 Apostles (Australia).

Then it was off to friends house for XMas lunch. It was Ham and Lamb all around....delicious.

Mommy needs a refill....
The rest of the holiday season so far has been spent House Hunting. Our rental is up in February and we are on the lookout for a new spot....the pic below should give you a hint of what we are after...
